Logitech M305 Wireless Mouse Driver For Mac

Until the M305 started to automatically double-click about 18 months after purchase, Logitech's M305 worked just fine. I originally wrote a positive review which I now regret. Granted, Logitech's FAQ notes that dust is likely a culprit in their mice's tendency to start randomly double-clicking, but I had a previous mouse from Logitech, the V320, that suffered the same fate. In my 40 years of computing of which 30 years has consisted of using a mouse, I don't recall any other brand suffering from random double-clicking even after 5 years of use. I certainly hope that Logitech can fix their problems as I will NOT be purchasing another Logitech mouse in the foreseeable future as planned obsolescence seems to rule the day. I fully expect a mouse to perform reliably for at LEAST 5 years of CONSTANT use with little maintenance.

Yes, in both cases I used compressed air to try to fix the mice without positive results. Logitech, you've just lost another customer who won't be easily won back.

This mouse is great. I prefer it to the newer Logitech mice; those unifying receivers always seem to go faulty on me. Maybe I'm unlucky, maybe they're flawed.

I also strongly dislike how they're making the mouse wheels now: 'smooth-scrolling for web', or something like that. Also, the separate pieces of plastic for the left and right buttons (which they aren't making anymore) give a more satisfying feedback to the fingers upon clicking. I imagine the difference is probably like the difference in feel with mechanical keyboards. I don't have one of those yet, but I will. So, this model is great because: - the receiver works, - it scrolls without 'web-scrolling' nonsense, and - the buttons are more fun to click. For my 20 bucks I got what I paid for and more.

This mouse is still in use on my wife's computer and works perfectly. It sips the energy from the battery. I am not 100% sure how long they actually last but I know for sure that each battery is lasting several months before we have to replace it and she uses that laptop with this mouse almost every day. The Nano receiver is great. It is so small she never has to take it out.

The laptop slides right into it's case with no catching issues at all from this little thing. It is simply too small to be a problem, it doesn't stick out much more than a pencil eraser in size. It also stores away inside the mouse itself if you do need to remove it so you never lose it. It has a power save feature which automatically turns the mouse off when not in use in order to save battery life even more. There is also a switch on the bottom of it to turn it off manually for packing and traveling with.

This thing comes in many color choices and is the one I recommend to all my friends who need a wireless travel/laptop mouse. I have since bought additional units for my own personal use. Highly recommended.

Did you ever buy something and get more than you expected? Well this is one of those times.

Logitech M305 Wireless Mouse Reviews

First, it performs as advertised, and works well. But then, that's what we pay for and that's what we should get. What I didn't expect is it shuts off when it isn't being used therefore the batteries should last forever - well, not forever but for a long time.

When it wakes up a green LED comes on letting you know it's awake and the batteries have enough power to support your work. The instructions tell you when the battery (one AA cell) is nearing the end of its life, a red LED will come on. I haven't used it enough for that to happen but I'm sure it will. If that doesn't work as advertised, I will be on with a follow up. The instructions also give you an option to d/l software to take advantage of Windows Eight and move the screen back and fourth in addition to the more conventional up and down. I haven't tried that little feature but when I do, I'm sure it will perform as advertised.

Finally, and this is a small item, - I'm talking about the antenna. It's a tiny little thing. It only protrudes from the USB port a 1/4 inch (6mm). You don't even know it's there. The only down side, the mouse is a little on the small side, perfect for the small or average sized hand but some ham handed person may find it too small for them.

I bought this mouse and a Logitech wireless keyboard for use with my Macbook Pro when home and plugged into a monitor. One compelling reason for buying these is that Logitech offers a 'unifying' usb connector that allows connection of up to 6 wireless Logitech devices through the one connector. While I would have preferred to use bluetooth, this at least allowed using the keyboard and mouse while only using up one usb port.

All went ok with the keyboard. Plugged in the usb connector in the back of the monitor, turned on the keyboard, and it was recognized and started working immediately. No such luck with the mouse. Not only was it not recognized, but there was interference with my other mouse what I turned that back on to control the computer. I had to download software twice from the Logitech support site, finally finding and installing the version with the patch for OS-X Lion, then after much fighting get their unifying control software started.

The software hung up before running to completion, and I got a software error message in the process, but now both the mouse and keyboard are working. Also beware that while the mouse comes with a usb plug, it is not the 'unifying' plug. That one came with the keyboard. Unless you know what to look for, you can't tell the difference. The mouse is smaller than the microsoft mouse I had, but it fits nicely in my hand and scrolls and moves smoothly.

So far, everything is working well, and I still have a usb port free. Today I Picked up my mouse, which I have had since 2011 (seven years) and thought.I should write something good about this. It has been dropped so many time I couldn’t guess how many times I have thought “Well, that should be it “ but it is still working. It hardly uses any battery power and uses regular AA batteries.

I bought a newer backup model from Logitech (just like this but with smaller insert for the computer) in case this one failed at a bad time. But it’s still here and the backup is still waiting to be opened. Fantastic product. I bought this wireless mouse for my desktop computer to get rid of the wire and help clean up my computer desk.

I was surprised at how nice it was to use and how convenient a wireless mouse can be. The nano USB receiver which plugs into your computer USB port is so tiny you don't even notice it and won't get damaged - it only sticks out about 1/4 inch. The mouse feels solid, well made, and has very good ergonomics. It's compact - a little smaller than my old regular mouse, but not really small. Perfect for a desktop or laptop. It has an on-off switch on the bottom, but also has a power saver feature which seems to reduce power automatically when not actually in use, so the AA battery lasts a long time. I have been using mine for one month now, have NEVER switched it off, and the battery is still strong.

It responds instantaneously, smoothly and faultlessly. I checked its range just for curiosity, and it will work from way across the room - much further than I can see the screen. I'm going to get another one for my laptop now.

I love a product which does its job superbly, looks good, feels good and especially is reasonably priced. I'd highly recommend this M305 mouse whether you really need a wireless mouse or not, you will love it. I use a laptop for work as a secondary machine, and mostly just for travel to data centers. Working as a systems administrator I need to be able to manipulate what I'm working on quickly and efficiently. For me I need to have a mouse to do that.

This little mouse is small and compact, takes a single AA battery and the USB receiver stores inside the battery compartment. I plane on just leaving it plugged into the side of my laptop as these things are so small now they don't protrude enough to get snagged on anything. It also fits snugly into my laptops USB port so I'm not worried about it falling out. The mouse has an on/off button that I've been using, not sure what the battery life is like yet, but in my past experience with Logitech products battery life hasn't been an issue. I keep spares of everything on hand anyways and the mouse doesn't take up a lot of room in my laptop bag anyways. I'm short and have sorta small hands so I think the mouse is the perfect size, but I don't intend to use it as a primary mouse or for extended periods of time.

Over the years, this has become my favorite mouse. I bought one of these a few years ago for $12.00. Now they're hard to find.

But I like it so much that I was willing to pay more than double for it. This mouse is compact but has a nice weight to it. So it doesn't feel cheap. The weight also helps with mousing accurately, in my opinion. It's a laser mouse, so it works on a stainless steel table where optical mice won't. I also appreciate that it requires only a single AA battery to run and it last a LONG time.

Another Logitech laser mouse that I have - the 505 - requires two AA batteries and and the top of it is glossy. So my fingers sometimes stick to it and don't slide around as well as they do on the surface of this M305 mouse.
